Wherever there is a human being, there is an opportunity for kindness  --Seneca
Our Philosophy

This we believe:

We believe that our lives are intertwined with one another in a complex farbric of  interdependent relationships among equals. We believe that all people are worthy of respect, are deserving of dignity, and are to be known and called by name.

We believe in the magnifying effect of collaboration. We believe that a person is far more than the sum total of his or her experiences and that the human condition is far more than the final link in a cause-and-effect chain of events. We believe in the cumulative value of small victories.

We believe in our shared responsibility for the ills of society and in our shared obligation to work in their eradication.

We believe that all voices have a right to be heard, especially those of the marginalized, the forgotten, the powerless, and the invisible.

We believe that no one we meet on the street is HOPEless.

     Our Philosophy

HOPE's philosophy recognizes the interdependence and interconnectivity of all persons in a given community. It acknowledges a shared responsibility for mitigating, inasmuch as possible, the collective struggles of that community, as well as celebrating the shared accomplishments. It understands that merely the thinnest of lines separates the successful from the failed, and that strong and healthy communities will find ways to reach across that line with empathy, respect, and dignity to help improve life for all.
