Our Street Outreach

HOPE’s Street Outreach program operates a mobile outreach van seven nights a week during the winter and six nights a week during the summer.  HOPE’s Street Outreach division is supported by over 75 Street Outreach volunteers. Two Street Outreach volunteers staff the van every night between 5:30-10:00pm, while 2-3 soup angels provide 20 meals each to be taken out on the van.  Street Outreach volunteers attend classroom training and work several shifts with veteran partners before hitting the streets on their own.  Street Outreach volunteers are expected to volunteer a minimum of one night per month.

During Street Outreach shifts, HOPE provides basic needs support such as food, water, clothing, and blankets or sleeping bags. HOPE also provides transports to available shelter, detox facilities, and medical treatment facilities. Additionally, HOPE provides referrals to appropriate social service agencies for follow-up or more comprehensive care.

Volunteers are required to be at least 18 years old and in good physical condition.  Outreach activities may occur during extreme weather conditions and volunteers are required to perform a modest amount of lifting when loading the mobile outreach van with supplies.  A valid Colorado driver's license is required.
